Everything You Need to Know Before, During, and After Your Service
The company
How long has Accurate Termite and Pest Control been in business?
We opened in Leander in 2000 and have been at it for over 25 years. The company is family-owned and family-operated, and it still runs out of the same two offices your neighbors call: Leander and northwest Austin.
What areas do you service?
Central Texas, broadly: Leander, Cedar Park, Austin, Round Rock, Georgetown, Liberty Hill, Lago Vista, Jonestown, and the communities around them. The full list is on our Where We Service page, and if your town isn’t on it, call us and we’ll tell you straight whether we can get a truck to you.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We’re licensed and insured in Texas, our technicians are licensed by the Texas Structural Pest Control Board, and they attend annual training to stay current on products, methods, and safety.
Do you offer free inspections or estimates?
Yes. Estimates are always free. If you’re worried about termites or think something has moved in, we’ll come out, take a look, and quote the work at no charge, and the price we quote is the price you pay.
Treatments and safety
What pests do you treat?
The full Central Texas lineup: termites, ants and fire ants, cockroaches, mosquitoes, fleas and ticks, scorpions, spiders, stinging insects, rodents, and wildlife. If your pest isn’t on that list, call anyway. Odds are we can handle it, and if we can’t, we’ll say so.
Do you offer one-time treatments or recurring service plans?
Both. Some problems are solved in one targeted visit, and if something flares back up within a week or two of an initial service, we come back at no charge. For the ant and scorpion pressure that never really quits around here, most customers move to exterior-only visits on a monthly or bi-monthly schedule after the initial inside-and-out treatment, so you don’t have to be home or juggle appointments. If something shows up inside between visits, just call. We’ll look at your situation during the free estimate and recommend the option that fits, not the one that costs more.
How long does a typical pest control treatment take?
Most standard residential treatments take about an hour or two. Bigger jobs, like termite treatments or wildlife removal, can run longer depending on what we find. Your technician will tell you what to expect before starting.
How soon will I see results after a treatment?
It depends on the pest. Some treatments knock the problem down within a day or two. Others work slowly on purpose: colony treatments for ants and termites need time to reach the queen so the whole colony goes, not just the foragers you can see. Your technician will tell you what a normal timeline looks like for your treatment.
Are your treatments safe for my children and pets?
Yes, applied correctly, and applying them correctly is the job. We use EPA-registered products labeled for residential use and keep kids and pets off treated areas until they’re dry, usually an hour or two. Tell your technician about pets, aquariums, or anyone in the house with sensitivities and we’ll adjust the plan around them.
Do I need to leave my home during treatment?
Almost never. Standard interior and exterior treatments don’t require you to leave. In the rare case a job calls for extra precautions, we’ll tell you before we schedule it, not when the truck pulls up.
How should I prepare my home before a pest control visit?
Usually not much: clear access to the areas being treated, cover or put away food and food-prep items if we’re working in the kitchen, and keep pets contained or out of the work area. When you book, we’ll walk you through anything specific to your service so there are no surprises on the day.
Texas pest questions
How do I know if I have termites?
The usual giveaways: mud tubes on the foundation or interior walls, wood that sounds hollow when you knock on it, paint that bubbles or ripples, little piles that look like sawdust near wood, and winged swarmers showing up around windows in spring. Termites hide well, which is why damage often runs for years unnoticed. If any of that sounds familiar, get a free inspection on the books.
How often should I have my home inspected for termites?
Once a year for most Central Texas homes. Subterranean termites stay active year-round in our climate and do their damage out of sight, so an annual inspection is the cheapest insurance you can buy against a five-figure repair. Homes with past infestations or ongoing moisture issues may warrant more frequent checks.
When is mosquito season in Central Texas?
Roughly spring through fall, peaking in summer, and our winters are mild enough that warm December days still produce mosquitoes. A monthly mosquito program started in early spring gets ahead of the population before it peaks instead of chasing it all summer.
Do you offer treatments for outdoor events like weddings or graduation parties?
Yes. We do one-time mosquito treatments for outdoor events. Schedule it as close to the event as you can for the best result, and call us with your date and yard size and we’ll sort out timing and coverage.
Cost and scheduling
How much does pest control cost in the Leander and Austin area?
Most homes start at $125 for the initial service, with lower rates for recurring visits after that. Every home is a little different, which is why the estimate is free and the price we quote is the price you pay.
How do I schedule a service appointment?
Call (512) 267-0812 or send the contact form and our schedulers will get back to you promptly. Most inspections are scheduled within a few business days, and office hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 6pm.
