How to identify the striped bark scorpion, where scorpions hide, and the UV-flashlight trick for finding them at night.
Read the guide →The scorpions around Leander and greater Austin, the striped bark scorpion and the Texas cave scorpion, aren’t deadly, but their sting is genuinely painful, and finding one in a shoe is a morning nobody forgets. On hot days they come inside looking for water and a place to cool off. Our job is to make sure your house isn’t the one they pick.

What we do
Our primary scorpion control service is a perimeter treatment around the outside of your house, a barrier that stops scorpions before they find a way in.
We come back every month to maintain that barrier, because a treatment that fades in the Texas heat isn’t protection. When you contact us, we come to your house ready to treat it.
Attics are exactly the kind of dark, undisturbed space scorpions like, and they’re a common route into the living areas below.
Our dusting treatment reaches into the attic spaces a liquid perimeter treatment can’t, cutting off one of the most common indoor harborage points before scorpions work their way down to where you live.
Treatment handles the scorpions; exclusion handles the openings they use. We plug weep holes with copper mesh, which keeps scorpions out while still letting your walls breathe the way weep holes are designed to.
We also weather strip your doors, because the gap under an exterior door is one of the easiest ways into a Central Texas house. Combined with the perimeter and attic treatments, your home is well-protected against scorpions.
Why it matters
Scorpions may be a part of life in Central Texas, but that doesn’t mean you need to worry about them harming your family. Because they hide in and under things, shoes, boxes, folded laundry, the unpleasant surprises tend to happen indoors, which is why we treat the problem at the perimeter, in the attic, and at the entry points instead of waiting for them to show up inside. We’re a local company with over 20 years of experience solving pest problems for home and business owners across Leander and greater Austin.

Reliable, professional, punctual, friendly, worry-free service. My experience with them has never been anything less than that for several years now, and I have absolutely no reason to believe that will change for many years to come. I could not be happier with them.
We’ve had Accurate Pest Control service our property since 2008. They don’t try to sell us anything we don’t need. Our monthly service fee has been consistent and reasonable since 2008. It’s difficult to find a quality company in most home services, but you can count on Accurate Pest Control to take care of your property.
What a great company! I purchased an ant control plan that had a 1 yr warranty for our yard. One month later, new ant mounds in other parts of our yard. I called them and they came out and treated again at no charge. It’s been 2-3 months and no ants. They also treat my house and the chemicals they use aren’t harmful to animals.
I receive quarterly pest treatments and had them out for critters in the attic over the summer as well. Very friendly and helpful service! I felt safe with both men that came to help even though I was home alone. The price is competitive and fair. Would definitely recommend!

The two scorpions in our area, the striped bark scorpion and the Texas cave scorpion, are not deadly, but their sting is painful and worth avoiding. If you or a family member has a strong reaction to a sting, treat it like any serious allergic reaction and seek medical care.
Mostly heat and water. On hot days scorpions look for somewhere to cool off and find moisture, and a house is exactly that. Once inside, they hide in and under objects, which is how people end up finding them in shoes, boxes, and closets.
Our primary service is a perimeter treatment around the outside of your house, and we return every month to maintain that barrier. On top of that we offer attic dusting for the spaces scorpions hide in, plus exclusion work: plugging weep holes with copper mesh and weather stripping your doors.
No treatment makes any Texas house 100% scorpion-proof, but the combination of a maintained perimeter barrier, attic dusting, and sealed entry points means your home is well-protected, and the occasional wanderer is a far cry from an infestation.
