Raccoon Removal in Leander and Austin
Thumping after dark, torn roof vents, and why a raccoon in the attic is the one to take seriously.
See the service →Scampering overhead around dawn is the classic sign. Fox squirrels get in through gaps at the roofline, damaged soffits, and utility line entries, and then they chew. We get them out humanely and close the gaps, from our Leander and northwest Austin offices.

What we do
Squirrels use gaps at the roofline, damaged soffits, and the spots where utility lines enter the house, and overhanging limbs are their bridge to the roof. We start by finding the opening this one is using, because that decides how we get it out.
Even when the squirrel stays out of sight, the entry point and the gnawing around it tell us what we are dealing with.
Depending on what we find, we install one-way doors that let the squirrels leave the attic but not get back in, or we set live traps. No poison, ever.
With trapping, it is your call: contact us when you find a squirrel in the trap, or have us return on a regular schedule to check the traps ourselves.
Removal without exclusion is a revolving door. A squirrel that found one gap will find the next, and the vacancy gets filled. Once every animal is out, we seal the entry points so they cannot return.
We provide an estimate for exclusion work as part of the service, so you know the full picture before anything starts.
Why it cannot wait
Squirrels are rodents, the same family as mice and rats, and like every rodent their teeth never stop growing. Keeping them trimmed means constant gnawing: wood, storage boxes, plastic, and electrical wiring. Rodents chewing through wires is a known cause of house fires, and a squirrel packs the attic with flammable nesting material on top of it.
Their droppings carry bacteria such as salmonella and E. coli, they bring ticks and fleas in with them, and they have no regard for your sleep schedule. Around Austin and Leander the one you meet is usually the fox squirrel, the largest of the tree squirrels, most at home up high, which is why an attic suits it so well. Our attic noise guide tells squirrels from raccoons and rats by sound and time of day, and our wildlife control page covers the rest of the lineup.

Neighbors first
Reliable, professional, punctual, friendly, worry-free service. My experience with them has never been anything less than that for several years now, and I have absolutely no reason to believe that will change for many years to come. I could not be happier with them.
We’ve had Accurate Pest Control service our property since 2008. They don’t try to sell us anything we don’t need. Our monthly service fee has been consistent and reasonable since 2008. It’s difficult to find a quality company in most home services, but you can count on Accurate Pest Control to take care of your property.
What a great company! I purchased an ant control plan that had a 1 yr warranty for our yard. One month later, new ant mounds in other parts of our yard. I called them and they came out and treated again at no charge. It’s been 2-3 months and no ants. They also treat my house and the chemicals they use aren’t harmful to animals.
I receive quarterly pest treatments and had them out for critters in the attic over the summer as well. Very friendly and helpful service! I felt safe with both men that came to help even though I was home alone. The price is competitive and fair. Would definitely recommend!

Listen to the clock. Squirrels are active in daylight, and the noise is usually scurrying and scampering overhead around dawn and again toward dusk. Rats and mice do most of their moving after dark. Squirrels also leave bigger gnaw marks and come and go through gaps at the roofline rather than down at the foundation. If it is rodents, our rodent control handles that.
You can wait, but the chewing does not. Every day a squirrel is in the attic it is gnawing on something, wiring included, and if it has settled in to raise young it is not going anywhere for weeks. Removal plus exclusion is the fix.
Yes. We use one-way doors and live traps, devices that let the squirrels leave your house but not get back in. We never use poison on wildlife.
Your choice. Some homeowners prefer to call us when they find a squirrel in the trap; others have us return on a regular schedule to check the traps ourselves. We set that up with you when we place them.
Exclusion work, which we estimate as part of the service: the roofline gaps, soffits, and utility entries get sealed once every animal is out. On your side, cut back limbs that overhang or touch the roof, since squirrels treat them as a bridge straight into the attic, and move bird feeders well away from the house.
